Run alsa-info.sh with --no-upload option and look
at the generated file for a more comprehensive information.
The script is found at http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-info.sh

See what the maximum values are for the volumes.  It seems that 
these values aren't the cards actual maximum.  You could play with
upping them in the driver in little chunks, and seeing whether it
improves.

You could also ask your question on alsa-devel once you have the
information and see if the developer will give you some guidance.
