alsa soc for arm at91

Hello,

OK, I've been wrangling with this for a while now, reading the howtos,
etc, and still no luck. I'm trying to get alsa working on an embedded
arm platform, a variant of the Atmel Arm AT91SAM9263-EK evaluation kit.
  I'm using kernel version 2.6.22.1 with support for alsa 1.0.14
compiled in. I have also compiled the kernel with SND_SOC
(system-on-a-chip audio support) and SND_AT91_SOC (Atmel AT91 audio);
both of these are in the kernel, not modules.

Yet, when the system boots, dmesg shows:

Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.14 (Thu May 31
09:03:25 2007 UTC).
ASoC version 0.13.1
ALSA device list:
   No soundcards found.

Also, /proc/asound/cards shows "--- no soundcards ---"

Any pointers on where to go from here?

Mike
