I have the hdmi on my motherboard connected to the digital in on my receiver and it works. I was playing a DVD and then I went back to my KDE-3.5.9 desktop and my sound was gone. :-( There was nothing in the system log. I use Gentoo and the alsa driver was compiled in the kernel (2.6.24.1). I grabbed the latest stable kernel from kernel.org and that was 2.6.25. It only has alsa 1.0.16rc2 so I downloaded the latest alsa-drivers directly from alsa-project.org but I get a compile error: make -C /lib/modules/2.6.25/source SUBDIRS=/root/alsa-driver-1.0.16 CPP="gcc -E" CC="gcc" modules make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-2.6.25' CC [M] /root/alsa-driver-1.0.16/acore/timer.o /root/alsa-driver-1.0.16/acore/timer.c: In function 'snd_timer_request': /root/alsa-driver-1.0.16/acore/timer.c:155: error: wrong type argument to unary exclamation mark make[3]: *** [/root/alsa-driver-1.0.16/acore/timer.o] Error 1 make[2]: *** [/root/alsa-driver-1.0.16/acore] Error 2 make[1]: *** [_module_/root/alsa-driver-1.0.16] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.6.25' make: *** [compile] Error 2 :-( ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by the 2008 JavaOne(SM) Conference Don't miss this year's exciting event.
