record from command line and split files

Hi,

we need a tool for automated recording in an audio server. It shall record
all, we broadcast during a specific time range.

Now the problem: at the moment I use arecord with an duration option:

arecord -D default f S16_LE -r 44100 -c 2 -d 3665 foobar.wav

a cronjob starts it every hour. Not to loose any sound, the records overlap
about some seconds. But we need actually files which fit one to another.

If I only record 3600 seconds and starting arecord again, they are missing
some frames.

So I search for a tool which is recording continously but is splitting the
file every hour. It must support alsa or even better: jackd.

Any Idea?

thanks
pete
