ALC889 on nForce 630i

Hello,

I'm trying to get the soundcard on my motherboard working. It's the
Gigabyte GA-73PVM-S2H board which has an nForce630i chipset. The
manual states that the board is using a Realtek ALC889A codec, the
exact text is below:

Audio
- Realtek ALC889A codec
- High Definition Audio
- 2/4/5.1/7.1-channel
Support for S/PDIF In/Out
Support for CD in

I'm using Gentoo with kernel 2.6.23 and the alsa-driver-1.0.15 release
to compile the snd-hda-intel module. I've tried with different model=
parameters when modprobing, but that didn't help. I always get the
following error:

mythbox ~ # aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Noise.wav
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:833:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to create IPC
semaphore
aplay: main:546: audio open error: Function not implemented

When I try with -D hw:0,0 I get the following:

mythbox ~ # aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Noise.wav -D hw:0,0
Playing WAVE '/usr/share/sounds/alsa/Noise.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little
Endian, Rate 48000 Hz, Mono
aplay: set_params:906: Channels count non available

What I noticed when loading the module, it appears that the module
detects a wrong codec:

ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:00:09.0[A] -> Link [AAZA] -> GSI 22 (level,
low) -> IRQ 17
PCI: Setting latency timer of device 0000:00:09.0 to 64
hda_codec: Unknown model for ALC882, trying auto-probe from BIOS...

Some output of lspci:

Subsystem: Giga-byte Technology Unknown device a002
Flags: bus master, 66MHz, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 17

	Capabilities: [50] Message Signalled Interrupts: Mask+ 64bit+

cat /proc/asound/NVidia/codec#0:

HDA NVidia at 0xe5100000 irq 17

I hope someone can help me with this issue. Maybe I'm just overlooking
something...

Thanks!
