Audio channels as virtual devices

Hi!

I am new to advanced ALSA and I'm trying to separate the right and left output and input channels.

My questions are:

-Having an 5.1 channel sound card can one create 6 virtual alsa devices each one driving one
channel?

-Having the same 5.1 card, it has 2 input connectors, 1 mic and 1 line-in, is possible to separate
the input channels 2 channels in the mic and 2 channels in the line-in so you can connect and
drive separately 4 input devices?

-Are the mic and line-in stereo in a 5.1 card?

For the curious what I'm trying to achieve is drive 2 or more cell phones with 1 sound card using
celliax channel for Asterisk (Voice over IP).
