I've tested using multi-channel wav-file: aplay "chan-id.wav"
Got result: ALSA lib pcm.c:2145:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM
cards.pcm.surround51

Also I did test with mplayer:
mplayer -cache 8192 -framedrop -vo dxr3:prebuf:sync:norm=5 -vf
expand=-1:-1:-1:-1:1:4/3:1,lavc=quality:25 -channels 6 -ao alsa
"/mnt/sens/My Movies/Test AC3 v2.0.avi"

Got:
[AO_ALSA] alsa-lib: pcm.c:2145:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM
cards.pcm.surround51
[AO_ALSA] Playback open error: No such file or directory
Could not open/initialize audio device -> no sound.
Audio: no sound

Creating .asoundrc file (as descrived on alsa wiki) doesn't help.

Seems like alsa "thinks" what I have only 2 channels card but it's not
correct.
