Hi All, I'm having a lot of trouble with the Edirol UA-4FX USB/MIDI soundcard in Ubuntu Gutsy. I saw the UA-3FX listed and hoped that the 4FX would also work... ALSA: 1.0.14 I tried the following: aplay -l **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 1: UA4FX [UA-4FX], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 cat /proc/asound/modules returns: 1 snd_usb_audio I created a modutils file called 'alsa' and then ran update-modules: # ALSA portion alias char-major-116 snd alias snd-card-0 snd-usb-audio alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel alias snd-card-1 snd-cmipci options snd-cmipci id="first" mpu_port=0x330 # OSS/Free portion alias char-major-14 soundcore alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0 alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0 alias sound-slot-1 snd-card-1 # card #1 alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss I also added snd-usb-audio to the end of /etc/modules. However, typing alsamixer just sends an error message that it can't load because there isn't a default soundcard! please help!
