I'd say that for my specific laptop the issue is resolved simply with the "options snd-hda-intel model=acer-aspire" line; I don't need to do any reloading anymore. Debian testing just had some new Alsa packages come in and maybe that might be helping things for me; I don't know, but I have no further complaints: things work great. It's still a bug if a model option is required. Please report lspci -vvv outout for your soundcard to the alsa-devel list so this can be fixed.
