I think I had a similar issue after rebooting. This is what I did as a workaround, afterwards everything worked properly: * Stop alsa * Remove the snd_hda_intel module (you might need to close X to do this) * Modprobe the snd_hda_intel module with model=acer-aspire * Start alsa I haven't fiddled around enough to get a proper fix as of yet.
