no sound on Dell Latitude D830 w/FC7

No sound since I bought it, thru various yum updates.

I downloaded compiled, & installed the ALSA 1.5 drivers, utils, and libs, since it's known that there's a pin bug for the Sigmatel 9205 codec in ALSA 1.4. No joy.

ALSA configuration here: http://www.pastebin.ca/760166

Linux kernel info here:
Linux labrea 2.6.23.1-10.fc7 #1 SMP Fri Oct 19 15:39:08 EDT 2007 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

lspci for audio here:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 02)

I've also tried setting the snd-intel-hda model option in modprobe.conf to: ref, dell-m42, dell-m43, dell-m44, and also tried probe_mask=1. dell-m42 resulted in a timeout error in the kernel logs; the others do not generate errors as far as I know, but neither do they generate sound.

Any help appreciated.
