problem about mplayer and alsa

Hi, somebody can help me?

I compile and install mplayer myself, now it can't support alsa, when I run :  mplayer -ao help

the result is :

> Available audio output drivers:
>         oss     OSS/ioctl audio output
>         mpegpes DVB audio output
>         null    Null audio output
>         pcm     RAW PCM/WAVE file writer audio output
there is no alsa in the list.

however i already installed alsa in my system. how can i make mplayer support alsa?
