Recording a phone call

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello,
how can I record a phone call performed through my computer?

arecord can record my voice.

Using the tee plugin, I could probably record the other side (not
tested). But how could I do that in the middle of a call?
(Tee to a named pipe, draining to /dev/null until the need for record
comes... Seems ugly.)

Is it possible to mix these two sources together and create a new
alsa device foo, so that "arecord -D foo" would store both sides of
the telephone call?

Thank you in advance for any help. Example pcm configs would be also
nice; because I cannot grok them. I searched web for a tutorial on
this topic, but all I found were some examples and reference manual
for individual plugins.

I still don't understand:
- how can I use a plugin to increase volume (some sources have very
low volume, all controls are at 100% and it's still not enough).
- how can I do the same with my mic, of the other side does not hear
  me?
- how can I publish the new virtual device (pcm config) so that it
will appear among the devices in "a{record, play} {-l,-L}" ?

Thanks,
	Stepan Kasal
