This works, albeit rather simplistically compared to recent versions of kmix, and fails to switch cards when asked to do so here by the switch button. My card setup relagates the mobo's nvidia chipset to card-1 status as it is used only for skype/gizmo, and the audigy-2 pci card is setup as card-0. Tkamixer defaults to the audigy display only. kmix presents me with a very large selection of sliders and switches for the audigy, and a much simpler screen for the nvidia on the mobo, and switches back and forth without error. My squawk abut kmix is that it always opens behind everything else, and you have to find a piece of its window and click on it to bring it forward. Most inconvenient to use at 1AM when I might wake the missus with some video newsclip whose audio is 30 db louder than normal. This wouldn't be such a problem since it should dock itself and lleave a docker volume control, but some update to kde destroyed the docker 3 months ago, so that now all I have there is the clipboard. Nothing else can register in the docker. -- Cheers, Gene "There are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, and ammo.
