That's funny, because I have almost the opposite problem; I can capture from the microphone and hear myself on the speakers but *not* on my headphones. Anyway... Do you also have the Capture device flagged for capture? I have discovered that it is possible, via alsamixer, to toggle the mic on for capture but the Capture device off.
