You can just update the kernel and alsa stuff ("yum update kernel\* alsa\*" I think) but I really wouldn't recommend it unless you've been installing lots of replacement software with no regard to what was already installed. I'm guessing that you've never updated this machine so you'll have lots of patches to install.
