-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello, I'm a Gentoo user who recently upgraded my alsa-driver package via the newest portage update over the weekend. After the update, I have a had a number of trouble with alsa. I can no longer start, stop, or restart the alsasound service via the /etc/init.d/alsasound x command. I cannot run alsamixer or alsactl. Any attempt to run any of these programs results in my terminal hanging indefinitely. I'm using the snd-intel8x0 driver compiled in via portage. I have checked my kernel config to ensure that it is as it should be. I will include the text of my /etc/modules.d/alsa file below. I would really appreciate any help you guys could give me. I need to get this sound device working for an audio processing class ASAP. /etc/modules.d/alsa: # Alsa kernel modules' configuration file. # ALSA portion alias char-major-116 snd # OSS/Free portion alias char-major-14 soundcore ## ## IMPORTANT: ## You need to customise this section for your specific sound card(s) ## and then run `modules-update' command. ## Read alsa-driver's INSTALL file in /usr/share/doc for more info. ## ## ALSA portion alias snd-card-0 snd-intel8x0 ## alias snd-card-1 snd-ens1371 ## OSS/Free portion alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0 ## alias sound-slot-1 snd-card-1 ## # OSS/Free portion - card #1 alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-ossalias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss ## OSS/Free portion - card #2 ## alias sound-service-1-0 snd-mixer-oss ## alias sound-service-1-3 snd-pcm-oss ## alias sound-service-1-12 snd-pcm-oss alias /dev/mixer snd-mixer-oss alias /dev/dsp snd-pcm-oss alias /dev/midi snd-seq-oss # Set this to the correct number of cards. options snd cards_limit=1 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFGL2mkpucvZXbgvjoRAtmqAKDYGKAAOC3CJSDoR2rHyxY5neexkACg9KsE wj5YTMc3yOi+lJ9PoBp2+eI= =TLkO -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
