Take a look at the wiki: http://alsa.opensrc.org/How_to_use_softvol_to_control_the_master_volume http://alsa.opensrc.org/Softvol The more complex example of the first article sets up a new volume control for the front channels, one for the the rear channels and one for all channles. Once this is set up, you have to tell MythTV to pick this channel when changing volume. If anything in these two articles is unclear, please tell me so I can change them.
