This is probably something simple, but I've been beating my head against the wall for several days now, and google isn't providing any answers that seem to work. I have two machines, one with a fresh Fedora Core 6 install, and one that also has FC6 and has taken the worst of my poking. I'm trying to get the serial-u16550 MIDI driver working. On the fresh machine, if I: setserial /dev/ttyS0 uart none /sbin/modprobe snd-serial-u16550 port=0x3f8 port=0x3f8 irq=4 speed=38400 I get "FATAL: Module snd_serial_u16550 not found." Is there a way to install and configure this driver on FC6 short of downloading alsa-drivers and configure / make / make install ? Because when I do THAT on the second machine (1.0.13), both commands work, but aconnect -l says : open /dev/snd/seq failed: no such device and when I /sbin/modprobe snd-seq it says: Error inserting snd_seq (snip) unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter And I've read postings that seem to indicate that downloading alsa-drivers and trying to configure/make/make install into a Fedora Core 6 installation is a bad idea. Any help, please? John _________________________________________________________________ Experience the magic of the holidays.
