How to fake ALSA hw device to apps (Skype) that do not support ALSA plugins?

Does anybody knows a way how to set up an .asoundrc that allows non
fully ALSA compatible applications like Skype to use ALSA plug-ins. I
found out that Skype always checks the hw.parms when it tries to open
ALSA. This does not work if the ALSA backend is a software plug-in like
jack or pulseaudio instead of a hw:x device.
