AC3 Pass through with NF4

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

I've been attempting to get AC3 passthrough over iec958 to work with my abit KN8 with NF4 chipset for some time now, and have had no success. I've followed all of the wikis and other walk throughs and still silence, and the receiver never kicks into DD or DTS mode.

aplay -l:

**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: CK804 [NVidia CK804], device 0: Intel ICH [NVidia CK804]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: CK804 [NVidia CK804], device 2: Intel ICH - IEC958 [NVidia CK804 - IEC958]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

This shows that my digial output is device 2. When using mplayer -ao alsa:device=hw=0.2 -ac hwac3 dvd:// there is nothing but silence. Regular stereo playback over iec958 works just fine.

The nf4 chipset uses the intel8x0 driver. lsmod | grep snd:

snd_intel8x0           40232  1
snd_ac97_codec        113368  1 snd_intel8x0
snd_ac97_bus            7296  1 snd_ac97_codec
snd_pcm                89608  2 snd_intel8x0,snd_ac97_codec
snd_timer              28808  1 snd_pcm
snd                    67688  6 snd_intel8x0,snd_ac97_codec,snd_pcm,snd_timer
snd_page_alloc         15376  2 snd_intel8x0,snd_pcm

Has anyone successfully gotten AC3 pass through to work on the NF4 chipset?

If any other information is necessary to debug this issue, I am more than happy to provide that.

Thanks
