This thread is about my attempts to get mencoder (part of the MPlayer suite)
to record sound as well as video through my TV capture card.  It works in a
linux build that uses only the old, deprecated OSS sound, but not with alsa.

Well, the problem seems to be solved.  I was dealing with another mencoder
problem and it was suggested I copy videodev.h and videodev2.h from my
new kernel source into /usr/include/linux.  I did that and while I was at it
I copied the new kernels include/sound over to /usr/include/sound and I
then rebuilt lame (used by mencoder).  I don't know which of these things
fixed the sound problem, but it now works.

Carl Weidling
