Hi,
Replication plugin was not able to open a changelog database and
it aborts startup.
The changelog db is defined in 'cn=changelog5,cn=config'
attribute
nsslapd-changelogdir. you may check that the changelog directory
exists/rights.
Note the naming 'cldb' looks quite old to me and I was rather
expecting 'changelogdb' in 1.4.3.

I have another cluster with the same configuration and I successfully updated. The only difference is that on the failing one I have enabled changelog encryption.
