No - the developers of this project will support 389-ds the same in centos as we always have, the same as we have supported fedora/rhel/opensuse. As a project and a team we take quality very seriously, and even in a rolling release like centos or opensuse tumbleweed we will ensure that upgrades will work. Having previously worked at RH I can also assert that I trust the RH QE teams to do great work to maintain the high standard of centos in the future as well. > > I'm about to start a new setup and I wanted to use CentOS, but now I'm thinking about Debian. > In that regard, is there any difference between Debian packages and CentOS ones? The 'core team' does not have much involvement in the debian 389-ds packaging process, but the debian maintainer has always been responsive and done a great job from what I am able to observe. I would expect there to be "very little" difference between debian and centos 389-ds packages. Additionally, you could also consider opensuse leap and/or suse linux enterprise if you want paid support (disclosure - I work for suse and am paid to maintain 389-ds in those distributions). > > thanks in advance, > > abosch > -- Institut Mallorqui d'Afers Socials.
