I'm trying to follow the handbook on creating a multi-master setup (2 servers).

Enter LDAP Password:
replace nsslapd-referral:
    ldaps://ldap1.bla.domain.ch:636/dc\=sub\,dc\=domain\,dc\=ch
replace nsslapd-state:
    referral on update
modifying entry "cn=cn=dc\=sub\,dc\=domain\,dc\=ch,cn=mapping tree,cn=config"
ldap_modify: No such object (32)

This is from the manual
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_directory_server/10/pdf/administration_guide/Red_Hat_Directory_Server-10-Administration_Guide-en-US.pdf
Though I always wondered if the cn=cn= part was a typo?

Yes it is a typo, it should be: cn=dc\=sub\,dc\=domain\,dc\=ch,cn=mapping tree,cn=config
thanks for finding the typo. I fix it and republished the guide:
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_directory_server/10/html/administration_guide/managing_replication-configuring-replication-cmd#Configuring-Replication-Consumers-cmd

By the way, if you find any bugs in the official RHDS documentation, you can report it here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/enter_bug.cgi?product=Red%20Hat%20Directory%20Server (Use the "Components" field. The component entries of the guides start with "doc-")

Regards,
Marc
