What are the exact errors messages?  There should also be some kind of "str2entry" error message as well.  What is it?  And what version of 389-ds-base is this? 

As for your concerns, this is probably not a serious error.    This actually sounds like a bug that is fixed in a newer release, but there's not enough information to determine that.  Either way its not a serious issue unless it keeps occurring.
