The console can run from anywhere, but each Directory Server system needs an admin server.

Host A - Just 389-console
Host B - DS instance and Admin Server
Host C - DS instance A, DS instance B, and Admin Server
etc, etc

You can cross register all the systems and use console to administer all the Directory Server instances from one location(using the latest register-ds-admin.pl)

In another words, can console be separate installation into another server so from one console it can control multiple directory server instances?
