I *think* this corresponds to RHDS 9. Perhaps read the docs on access.redhat.com
to get an idea of the versions as I believe they may list the exact 389-ds-base
version that matches.

Even on centos 7 you would not be on the bleeding edge. The team is very careful
about all commits, and review, as well as testing thoroughly what we do (Have a
look at the project trac to see what I mean). Only at certain stages do we
backport fixes to the "stable" versions. Finally, the "newer" versions such as
1.3.X, will be getting the same fixes as 1.2.X, so really you gain very little
from running an older version. Bleeding edge is checking out and running git
master, and even then, I feel very confident running that on some of my systems.

So you would be very safe running el7 and 389-ds-base 1.3.X that is available
there, and I encourage you to!
