No, you should not need to remove the replication agreements.  With 8.0, 
you should just be able to add the schema file to 
/etc/dirsrv/slapd-instance/schema and restart the server.  With 8.1, you 
add the schema file to /etc/dirsrv/slapd-instance/schema and run the 
schema reload task.
