Fedora Directory Service and Java error

I have been using java for years and never figured out how to work with the
gcj java. I think the major problem is that java is distrubuted with the SUN
Public Lic. I think that stops people from making simple RPM packages of the
java runtime on public sites. Or there is some other reason I am not aware
of.

What I have done in the past is went to java.sun.com. I download the full
JDK or SDK. This allows a user to compile and run. The JRE is for running
applications only.

I run the RPM or tar and install it saying yes to whatever questions it ask.
Then I tar up the entire directory and make a shell script to install it on
other machines. Java SDK is very portable itself the linux version will run
on any linux kernel 2.4 2.6 and distro (as far as I have tested). All you
need is the tar file. A path entry poining to the java executable and a
JAVA_HOME entry for your java path.

** I only use java for running command line applications. My method works
well for me. Running the full install as sun designs it to be run is a
better option. **
